Hello,
I am working on a large project with several files, and I would like a colleague to work on one of those files. She only uses SDL Studio, though. Can I export a file from memoq, have her translate the file in Studio, and import it back into my memoq project?
I know that in theory you can, but my main doubt is: is it safe enough?
TIA,
José Ruivo

If you export an MQXLIFF, Trados can import it and (presumably) export it in the same format. memoQ can then 'Update from bilingual' the original file from the returned MQXLIFF file.
If Trados cannot return it in the right format, you still import it into a local project (not a server project) and transfer it to the original file (server or local) either through a TM or through a bilingual RTF.

Easiest thing

I think that the easiest thing to do is to have it translated by the Trados User and have him/her send you the related TM duly converted in TMX. Once you got the TM (in TMX format) you can import it to your own Trados TM and run the Batch Task "Pre-Translate File".
I hope I have been clear enough.
Thanks
Paolo

Exporting TMs
May 9, 2023
Well,
new challenge: I am trying to export the TMS for my colleague to use in Studio, but I try to do so, memoq tells the access is denied... These are TMs in my client's server, could that be why? Is there a way to work around it?
TIA

memoQ generally does not allow you to export TMs and TBs from a server.

Oh dear :-(

Guess I'll have to explain the situation to the client and ask her for the TMs. Too bad she is not answering any of my other questions either
Thanks anyway!
