We are investigating several tools for creating "Controlled English" (also called Simplified English) that will supposedly be easier to translate and localize.
I am already convinced it will work. What I need is input from translators who work with controlled and uncontrolled English source files.
Does it help you? How does it help? How much faster are you? What is the error rate between controlled and uncontrolled source texts?

Controlled English (CE) and Simplified English (SE) are not exactly the same thing. SE is one example of a CE that was created by AECMA in the 1980s for aerospace documentation. It was aimed for readability of the texts, not for translatability. Other types of CE, such as Caterpillar Technical English (CTE) were in fact designed with translation in mind. I explain this in one of my articles on the topic.
