Brain dead Oct 3, 2006

I have never gone as far as dying on the job (yet) but certainly known the feeling of being brain dead at the end of a particularly gruelling document.

I actually avoid it at all costs Oct 3, 2006

I try to avoid it at all costs, because when I tried, I found myself re-translating a lot of the text, making it not worth the money.

Not every proofreading job is the same and, as such, there are ways to make it worth the money. You can discuss different rates with the client, from low to high depending on the complexity of the job, as in:

$xx.xx per word (writing is polished and simply needs a final check for occasional errors)

$xx.xx per word (spelling and grammar revisions according to what standard and correct use require)

$xx.xx per word (rewriting, reworking and incorporating changes in the text).

That's cheap money... Oct 3, 2006

brain dead and still collecting ... 2 cents? ... 2cents US? 2 cents Euro? per word...

Imagine proofreading Finnegan's Wake... Or the last sentence - just the last sentence - in Ulysses... What a job for braindead!
