Astronomy
Feb 8, 2010
As an astronomy fan, I was totally thrilled when I was asked to translate the homepage of a cosmology institude directed by.. Stephen Hawking!!!
Private documents are also interesting, because it is "real-life".
I recently translated a letter of a man to his father. The man had just discovered the name and address of his father, told him about his life and children, and asked to see him at least once in his life. I was moved to tears.

I also appreciated the text on rapeseed culture in North-Africa, because it was extremely informative and revealed a point of view I had never thought about.
General texts on non technical / non juridical topics are allways interesting. ▲ Collapse

Possible engagement letter
May 9, 2010
Once, I got a hand-written letter from a Polish sailor to a Thai (?) woman whom he met like three times in which he asked her to become his wife. I almost did it for free
Also, once, I had to translate a "How to..." type text about building a medieval armour. That was a challenge...

The client had written a letter to the president of the United States trying to get the president to fund research into his idea for a perpetual motion machine. The text reflected definite signs of mental illness. It was wierd.
