Just a quick note about a panel discussion taking place at City University London on Thursday 31 May 2012, from 17.00-19.00.

We're delighted to welcome the prize-winning writer Will Self to what promises to be an intriguing discussion on the difficulties inherent in translation, with particular reference to Franz Kafka and his short story A Country Doctor.

During the discussion, eminent translators and academic specialists – Dr Anthea Bell, Dr Joyce Crick, Dr Karen Seago and Prof. Amanda Hopkinson – aim to help Will Self (a non-German reader) with the complexities of Kafka's German. The end 'result' will be a literary essay written by Self for arts website The Space.

If you'd like to attend, please reserve your place online. The discussion will be followed by a drinks reception, giving you the chance to discuss the issues raised over a glass of wine.
