See more We often hear these days about client side, vendor side, business side and sometimes we forget that from all these sides there are people who want to interact with other people in various roles, positions and capacities, to achieve their goals. Social media is all about direct people communication. How to do this effectively for business we are in, which is language service industry? In Berlin, we are planning a session on business uses of Linkedin as one of the examples of Social media for our industry. We want to do a short business presentation on how we people actually use LinkedIn for our purposes, be it seeking people, finding contacts, establishing connections, looking for information, resources or a job. This is a novel theme and information is scarce. However, I have been recently asked to comment on a Dissertation thesis on exactly this topic, and I find it to be a very solid work. The author, Emily Hampton, is eager to hear practical use cases and examples on practical uses. So she was kind enough to give me permission to publish her almost complete but unfinished work in our group of more than 5,400 localization industry professionals in hope that we will be kind enough to provide feedback – the Thesis is due by the end of next week. So here we are in one of the practical uses of social networks in a win-win cooperation: - You are welcome to download the work and give your feedback in survey below; - The best answers will be invited to participate in the Social Media panel in Localization World in Berlin (registration is free for them on the day of the panel); - Emily gets her feedback to complete her thesis with practical examples included fast; - The final thesis will be given as a handout during our panel in Berlin; - We will have excellent discussion. So, you are VERY welcome to: 1. Download the Thesis and read it; 2. Complete the Survey with feedback on Thesis AND your best case scenario and thoughts for the Panel; ALL THE PARTICIPANTS WILL GET THE CONDENSED SURVEY RESULTS, ANONYMOUS (LESS PERSONAL DATA) Thank you for reading this and waiting for your contribution!
