・August 2015 to the present Japan Livestock Trading Corp.(Obihiro, Hokkaido, Japan) Responsibilities in this role: Translation, Proofreading, Editing. I deal with localization (English to Japanese) of Hoard's Dairyman, a magazine that deals with articles on dairy practices in the United States. I mainly proofread translated scripts by two different translators, which need to be precisely checked and even re-translated and written from scratch because their translation skills are extremely poor to the extent they could affect the quality of the articles.
・July 2012 to the present Freelance Translator Title: Text Architect Responsibilities in this role: I deal with English-Japanese translation as well as proofreading and editing. As a competent freelancer that comprehensively handles texts, I introduce myself as a Text Architect.
・June 2010 - April 2012 Toyo Printing Co., Ltd. A local printing company (Obihiro, Hokkaido, Japan) http://www.toyo-grp.co.jp Responsibilities in this role: Proofreading. Dealt with a wide range of documents such as newspaper ads, university theses, syllabi, leaflets and brochures published by local governments, Hoard's Dairyman magazine (http:/www.hoards.com), etc.
・September 2004 - November 2004 Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE Obihiro) (Obihiro, Hokkaido, Japan) Responsibilities: Temporary Assistant Coordinator. Students from Central and Eastern Europe took an academic curriculum that was held for a couple of weeks at Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) to study agriculture in Japan. I supported coordinators who provided care for the students.
・August 2003 - July 2004 Meiko Gijuku Obihiro Tetsunan School A tutoring school primarily for junior high school students. (Obihiro, Hokkaido, Japan) Title: Tutor-in-Chief/Administrator Responsibilities in this role: Mainly general management of the school, including setting up curricula for students to learn and prepare for the entrance exams for higher level schools. Tutored the students in four subjects: English language, Japanese language, mathematics, and social studies. Led all the students successfully to pass the exams to advance to the higher level schools of the students' choice.
・September 2002 - June 2003 Ark Learning Systems A private basic English conversation school (Memuro, Hokkaido, Japan) Title: Tutor/Translator Responsibilities and accomplishments. Responsible for giving supplementary lessons to elementary and junior high school students. Tutored them in three subjects: English, mathematics, and social studies. I was also responsible for providing basic English conversation lessons to students that belonged to various age group, from elementary school pupils to adults. As a translator, I completed the translation of two sets of documents. One is a Japanese-English translation of an agricultural thesis that dealt with the no-tillage method of agriculture. The other is an English-Japanese translation of documents to be submitted to the civil court as a source of evidence. ・Preceding periods After graduating from high school, I left my hometown to Tokyo. As I am not from a wealthy family, I needed to get a scholarship to attend a tutoring school and prepare for the next year's entrance exams for a university. I signed up for a scholarship program sponsored by The Mainichi Newspapers (http://www.mainichi.co.jp), one of the leading newspapers in Japan. The newspaper company granted me the scholarship on condition that I deliver papers to several hundred houses every morning and every evening. Unfortunately, though, I could not pass the exam. So I gave up advancing to a university. To make a living, I decided to work on as a staff at the delivery agent I had worked for. Then I devoured as many books as possible to keep up with my fellow students who entered the universities of their choices. I also kept learning English by whatever measures I could think of. After that, I worked as a truck driver to make a living for nearly eight years in total until an acquaintance of mine asked me to help him with launching his private English conversation school - Ark Learning Systems. I began training myself there to improve my skill as a translator. Following additional years of experience as an assistant coordinator at JICE and then a proofreader, I started off in 2012 as a freelancer.
