How easy is it to learn?

Cristiana Zanelli . I found this a happily snappy tool, it did take me no time to start using it since I had previous knowledge of CAT and translation software. It seems pretty straightforward for tranlsators who are approaching their first CAT job, too.
You get everything in one screen, translation memories loaded automatically and spellcheck.
I have used the online version shared with my colleagues, and that worked beautifully.
Definitely recommended.

I have witnessed the release of CATs since they started appearing. I have always looked for ways to make my work easier. They are great tools that offer in one place all the resources for translating and carrying out the workflow of LSPs and linguists. I have had at least 5 expensively licensed CATs with what seem to be significant features for geeks and engineers, I suppose, but excessive for most linguists. Some CATs interfaces are intimidating, as if they want to stress the intervention of engineers and the complexity of the today’s industry. Other CATs are too slow or unstable when working online, making you wonder if they are there to make you work harder.
Then I began to use Memsource every day because it was the CAT preferred by many of the LSPs I work with. Its interface is simple and reliable when working online and offline. And it is free for the linguist. It is not one of those 5 pricy licenses I have purchased.
Memsource is simple, and its key resources are easily accessible. One feature I don’t forget to use for every project is a Term Base. Creating TB at the start of a project and keep adding terms to it is one of the best old practices, recommended since the beginning of time. If my project on Memsource doesn’t show a green box next to TB in the bottom right corner, I ask the PM to create an empty one for me. Once I have it, I can place in it those indispensable terms for consistency. Ctrl+T is my shortcut (customizable). So, I highlight the source term and press Ctrl+T and Memsource adds it to the TB (bottom panel); then I highlight the translated term I want to use, and Ctrl+T sends it to the TB, and clicking on Add (Enter) sends the pair to the server.
From then on, when the source term appears in a segment, Memsource highlights it automatically and by writing the first letter in the translation panel, it will offer me the complete term. Or I can simply look at the resource panel to the right and the source and target terms will be there. Another shortcut to apply the term to your translation is Ctrl+#, using the number (one digit usually) given to the term on the resources panel. I only wish I could send the pair of terms by highlighting both and integrate them simultaneously, clicking only once my shortcut Ctrl+T and not twice.
(Also, I haven’t been able to add to the TB a super index character. In Spanish, we must use these little characters precisely: 100 0C but n.0 and 1.a. I guess engineers can fix details like these when they are aware of them, but I never asked until now. Would you call this a nerdy request?)
All things considered, I’d say Memsource is a free, clean, stable, easy-to-use CAT for translators and reviewers, from its unobstructive tags to the clarity of its resource panel. I love it when an LSP says, “We have a project in Memsource. Can you take it?”
