to strike the adventurous spirits

Well, literally, it is "to strike the adventuresses" but obviously, that translation isn't a good idea. Not only is it hard to say, but the second definition of adventuress is definitely negative. While I read it as "it will not fail to strike this summer's adventurous spirits in search of freedom (or liberty) and style," I actually prefer "it will not fail to bring out this summer's adventurous spirits in search of freedom (or liberty) and style."

baroudeur
nm
* (=aventurier) adventurer
(=combattant) fighter

will really send summer girls

faire craquer = irresistable; "it sends me", "can't say no to"

baradeuses = wanderers, travelers, summer girls on the move

probably too ambiguous, but maybe it'll give someone an idea
Peer comment(s):

agree Bourth (X) : have globetrotters' tongues lolling out

will definitely seduce women this year during their summer adventures

Hello,

faire le baroud (here) = to go on adventures (originally had something to do with wanting to be in combat)

baroudeuse = woman who goes on adventures

faire craquer = to be irresistible to

Women won't be able to resist getting one of these handbags.

I hope this helps.

will be irresistible to women with a taste for adventure

I find "adventurous women" to be a bit ambiguous in a questionable way in English... In fact, the biggest problem starts with the French text "quest for freedom *and* style," a Paris Hilton type of freedom and style, no doubt. Everything so gimmicky and stupid.

send the globetrotter head over heels this summer

globetrotter / heel : humour
Peer comment(s):

neutral David Vaughn : I think the choice of baroudeuse was specifically to stay ambiguous - it can mean also knocking around your home town
