Discussion

Lara Barnett (asker) Dec 15, 2022:
@ Conor/Allegro Thanks for comments. I noticed it was a name just after posting. With regards to abbreviation of Veronica, I think this is due to the bank statement text processed columns, which always seems to cut out parts of words.
Finally, on realising this was a name I came back to the question to close it, as the person might not want references to her name on her client's statements posted all over the internet. Obviously, that would undermine the answerer's efforts if I did that now.
Conor McAuley Dec 15, 2022:
Yes, AllegroTrans, warts and all.

At a push, put a gloss in brackets saying that it's a name.
In the Anglo world, I don't think we abbreviate Veronica to Vero.
AllegroTrans Dec 15, 2022:
So repeat it "as is" - not the translator's job to make assumptions. This might not be the person Liz is referring to for all we know
Conor McAuley Dec 14, 2022:
Melanie, you've provided local knowledge (it's the same in France actually, if memory serves) that explains why the two names are not in capitals and why the E in Véro does not have an accent – the sender of the bank transfer typed the details in like that.
Melanie Kathan Dec 14, 2022:
Sorry for the repeat info; I opened this tab a few minutes ago and just came back to it without hitting refresh, my mistake. Leaving my comment just to reinforce what Conor already said.
Melanie Kathan Dec 14, 2022:
A name It's probably just a name, either "Véronique Lasanté" or someone named Véro from a business called La Santé. When you send bank transfers here, you can add a note for your own records; that's most likely what this is.
Conor McAuley Dec 14, 2022:
It's the name of a person.
