Clive Phillips Dec 30, 2014:
Thank you Thank you, Carmy and Tony. Bonne Année!
"alternative weapons" is new to me.
Carmy Tutino (asker) Dec 30, 2014:
Hi again Clive, With regard to "armes de substition", which I didn't ask, according to according to the United Nations Multilingual Terminology Database should be translated "alternative weapons".

Again, thank you for your help.

Kind regards,

Carmy
Carmy Tutino (asker) Dec 30, 2014:
Dear Clive, Many thanks for your answer. I just needed "armes de manipulation" and "armes en coupe" as I had all the rest. You are wonderful.

Happy New Year,

Carmy
Tony M Dec 29, 2014:
@ Clive Well done! As the context slowly seeps out, that does seem a highly likely solution!
Clive Phillips Dec 29, 2014:
My stab at an answer arme de manipulation = practice weapon used for handling practice.
arme en coupe = weapon in cross-section (cut in half to display internal design - for instruction; or in a photo or diagram).
arme de substitution = practice weapon (in some contexts this may be translated as non-lethal weapon (eg taser) but that seems inappropriate here).
munition inerte de manipulation = dummy ammunition/munition for handling practice.
grenade inerte de manipulation = dummy grenade for handling practice.
Carmy Tutino (asker) Dec 29, 2014:
Hi again, This is a tender document. I tried to post more than one weapon required, but Proz refused to post more than one. Here is the list of weapons required: Armes de manipulation, armes en coupe, armes de substitution, Munitions inertes de manipulation and Grenages inertes de manipulation.
Tony M Dec 29, 2014:
Right! Obviously that is VITAL extra context!!

If you have examples of what these weapons are, please give some more, like 'grenades'.
Carmy Tutino (asker) Dec 29, 2014:
Hi, there is no more context, this armes de coupe is listed along with other weapons in an offering by the Ministère de la défense in France. It has nothing to do with sharp-edged weapons as they are meant for soldiers. Ex: grenades.
George May (X) Dec 29, 2014:
Please add context! As for your previous question.
