French term

adéquation à une fin particulière

French to English Law/Patents Law (general)
At the end of a technical description on an intraoral camera used in dentistry, in the guarantee page the following sentence is given: (sorry for all caps, it's like that in the document)

CETTE GARANTIE CONSTITUE LE SEUL ET UNIQUE RECOURS. ELLE REMPLACE TOUTE AUTRE GARANTIE, PAR EXEMPLE ***D’ADEQUATION A UNE FIN PARTICULIERE***, QU’ELLE SOIT EXPRESSE OU IMPLICITE. XX NE POURRA ETRE TENUE RESPONSABLE D’AUCUN DOMMAGE PARTICULIER, INDIRECT, ACCIDENTEL OU CONSECUTIF, NI D’AUCUN DEGAT OU D’AUCUNE PERTE DE DONNEES, SUR UNE BASE CONTRACTUELLE, EXTRA-CONTRACTUELLE OU AUTRE.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - since I'm not so good on such jargon.

No, sorry, I know the English is fine. Warranty of merchantability and warranty of fitness for a particular purpose are standard contractual warranties in the US. What I thought was, the French might be a translation of the English term.

agree Laura Tridico : This is the correct legal translation, not franglais at all.

Sorry, I didn't mean 'franglais' in the sense of bad French or English. It's just I only ever seem to see this phrase in translations or contracts where one party is English or American. I always assumed the concept was not originally French.

neutral Tony M : That's IT jargon, and I don't think it would fit well in this 'legalese' context
