French term

gage/nantissement

French to English Bus/Financial Investment / Securities investment banking
Context: refinancing of a securities portfolio

Wording: "Ceci suppose que la valeur du portefeuille américain n'a pas été dépréciée et que X n'a pas eu à compléter la valeur du gage par nantissement de titres PPR."

Ideas on how to avoid redundnancy between 'gage' and 'nantissement'?

the value of the PPR stock pledged as collateral

mettre en gage is to pledge, and nantissement is collateral. You can't have to do a word for word translation here, it doesn't work.

and that X did have to provide the full amount of the pledge using the PPR shares as security

I think he it means he didn't have get the full amount through pledging the shares as security...

if you say pledge and security or collateral you get around it...
