I prefer "spreads" because can in fact mean about anything being the stats term but no guarantee for "représentation" as I cannot really figure out what it really means here some more context, I suppose you have none...well build on from your own intuition and may be a peer will have THE key, all I can offer is a tentative way out !!!

I did decide on "spread" where two "poles" were involved, and put "deviation" where a particular + or - value was given. "
