French term

aérobies

French to English Science Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng discussion of properties of a plant used for a herbal extract
Context:

'Qualité microbiologique :
- Microorganismes aérobies < 1000 ufc / g
- Levures < 50 ufc / g' etc

I have been trying to find the correct (UK) English translation for 'microorganismes aerobies' and I found the link below which appears to suggest that this should be translated as 'bioaerosols':

http://microbewiki.kenyon.edu/index.php/Aeromicrobiology

Does that sound correct to people who are knowledgeable about this? I also found 'aeromicrobes', but when you search for that, not much comes up.

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (2): Bertrand Leduc, abe(L)solano

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

N'étant pas anglophone je n'ai pas voulu poster sans être sûre à 200%, bien que je connaisse l'emploi de "aerobic" en anglais, lorsque je traduis dans l'autre sens ;-)
merlrennes Sep 10, 2014:
I answered too fast as I was thinking of "aerobie" missiles which are air breathing! Indeed microbes do take in "breathe" oxygen as part of their metabolic system. This can be beneficial or detrimental as described by the Wikipedia article.

@CFournier Because we hadn't yet got round to it. Why don't you post it as an answer?

I would love to know why this term was not chosen by EN speakers.
