French term

statuts de SARL

French to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
Il est formé entre les comparants attributaires des parts ci-après créées et de celles qui pourraient l'être ultérieurement, une Société à Responsabilité Limitée qui sera régie par les présents statuts et par les Lois en vigueur en République de Djibouti.

I am not sure whether to translate it as 'status' or 'statute'?

I know this does not correspond exactly to the French concept, but it is the closest there is in English law, as far as I know. Sometimes you get "Memorandum and Articles of Association"; I'm not sure which is preferable.

reply: about 6 million if you google: Ltd "Articles of association". This was certainly the term used for a limited libaility company when I studied law back in my youth, and I doubt it has changed.
Note from asker:
SARL is 'Limited Liability Company'. I am not very sure of this answer. Are there any references available?
Ok...I got it. Thanks!!

By-laws

This is how I've translated this for years. Perhaps a more American term than English, but it has satisfied generations of lawyers. And I usually leave SARL and the first time it appears I translate it in brackets, since French companies do not have EXACT equivalents in anglo-saxon law.
Peer comment(s):

agree writeaway : US version. Asker doesn't state which brand of English is required.

bylaws (by-laws) of a Private Limited Liability Company

bylaws has 2 ways of writing
The translation of SARL is the one from the LeDocte Juridical Dictionary, though often you will find Limited Responsibility Society.
Peer comment(s):

neutral writeaway : LeDocte doesn't always get it right. by-laws is USA and already given as answer

(limited) company statutes

Legal is not my specialisation but I don't understand why no one has confirmed the term "statutes"...

Let's see if I get any negative comments ;)
Peer comment(s):

disagree cmwilliams (X) : it isn't "statutes" in English as others have already confirmed.

OK, I'm convinced by Articles of Association" but the term "company statutes" does get 56'800 hits in Google, so what are they then?

charter and bylaws of an Sarl; articles of association and bylaws of an Sarl

(I think the statuts includes both the charter and the bylaws (also written as by-laws.)

statutes of the SARL (LLC)

They are the statutes made bysigned in front of the notary for the foundation of the SARL, Société Anonyme de Responsabilité Limitée. Société is not an association, it means: company. An association is called 'association' in French. The English form of SARL is LLC.

Yes, okay, it should be 'articles of the SARL'
