If this is the name of a flower I cannot find it. As you will see from the context, it is NOT a botanist talking ! Any ideas ?

Right! It should be "lily." Guess I was getting confused with all those L's! And the error is apparently common enough to have produced nearly 10,000 google hits. But let's not perpetuate it! :)
