French term

environnement moléculaire de conditionnement

French to English Science Biology (-tech,-chem,micro-) polynucléotides
Hi there,
I have already asked a similar question, I havent found "conditioning" in english, could it be something else in this context?

"conditioning molecular environment"?

Thank you

Joanne Archambault Oct 15, 2010:
@ Tony M Part of me also thinks that 'conditionnement' is referring to the 'packaging' of the product, but I just can't reconcile how 'molecular' fits in with it...
Tony M Oct 14, 2010:
As they're talking about 'product' ...I wonder if this simply has the everyday meaning of 'packaging' or 'packing' tc.?

molecular conditioning environment

"Molecular substrates of environment elicited cocaine conditioning -
After resting for one day, the rats received a microinjection within the NAc core (NAC) and shell (NAS) of AP-5 and were re-exposed to the conditioning environment. "

"By “conditioning environment” is meant a microenvironment in which T cell responses may be modulated by adding to the medium soluble mediators (e.g., cytokines), and/or by soluble or support bound molecules (e.g., co-stimulatory molecules) capable of inducing a given T cell response."

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Many thanks to all. I couldn't make my mind up so I just stuck to the closest to the French."

molecular reaction environment

I don't have much to stand on in trying to convince anyone that "reaction" is an appropriate translation for "conditionnement", so my answer is based on the context and having worked with polynucleotides in my previous life.

molecular environment in which it is packaged

It's not clear, and I think it would depend on what comes before the sentence you have posted as context, but I can't help thinking that conditionnement is packaging, as Tony says, and that they mean that double stranded complexes cannot form while the product is in its packaging due to certain properties of the medium/buffer in which it is dissolved.
