French term (edited): le staphylocoque dor

decorated

I think this is the scientifically correct term. More context will be helpful. Thre are
oragnisms "decorated" with different chains, molecules, etc.

disagree sktrans : see my suggestion below

I think you are right... First, I thought it was aureus, then I changed my mind...
disagree Josephine Billet : it is not decorated, sometimes it is called golden in english too, but mostly just known as resistant staphylococcus

You are right, as well...

superbug

If you consider that "staphylocoque doré" is the man-in-the-street's name for the clinical MRSA, you might want to refer to it as "superbug" (even if it vies for this title with Enterococcus faecium).

<<They are known as MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) - dubbed the superbug.>>

<<They are known as MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) - dubbed the superbug. People who contract the MRSA superbug infections in hospitals can die in a matter of days.>>

<<MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus) has been dubbed the ‘superbug’ because of its resistance to all normal antibiotics. The UK government has just launched (05/12/2003) a campaign to reduce the number of MRSA infections acquired by patients during their stay in hospital – an estimated 100,000 of them a year (including 5,000 deaths), at an annual cost of around 1 billion pounds>>

<<Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) - dubbed the superbug - is becoming more common in hospitals in spite of attempts to improve hygiene. There are thought to be between 80,000 and 100,000 cases of MRSA infection every year. >>
