French term

kakemono

French to English Marketing Advertising / Public Relations
Hello,

As part of an interview assessment form for a clothes store:
Associer un geste pour l'accroche :
- déplier un tee shirt et présenter un détail du produit
- décrocher un article
- bouger un kakémono

Any suggestions? Thanks!

No problem ! Have a good day
French Foodie May 31, 2006:
At any rate, it stays the same in English. It's a type of vertical banner used in advertising, like the Japense scroll paintings. Hope this helps!

Hi Lucy-Jane. I see you are fairly new to Kudoz. Welcome! Have you tried checking the glossary? This term has come up before:

kakemono

Although I've never heard this word in French or English, it's in my Harrap's FR-EN as "kakemono" (Art.). Alas, it's not in the OED, however.

Good luck!

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Hiya, Thanks for your swift reply! Normally kakemono is a Japanese scroll painting, so I guess that's why it comes under (art.) in your dictionary...here it is specifically in the advertising sense, which is why I selected the answer that reflects this. Many thanks for your time and trouble! Lucy-Jane"
