The data from our own national study on employee loyalty and business ethics raises similar, and alarming points:


Only six in 10 employees believe that their organization is highly ethical, while less than half of all employees believe that their senior leaders are people of high personal integrity.
Three in 10 employees know or suspect an ethical violation at work in the past two years, but six in 10 do not report it.
One in seven employees believes that their organization sometimes knowingly breaks the policies and regulations, while one in four believe that ethics/compliance may or may not be considered when making decisions that affect profits.
And the link between employee loyalty and ethics is strong. Employees who believe that their organization is highly ethical, that their senior leaders have high personal integrity, that there is little pressure to cut ethical corners, and ethics problems are dealt with completely and fairly, are much more likely to be committed and loyal to their organization than employees who feel otherwise. In fact, our research indicates that when employees believe they work for an ethical company, 55% are Truly Loyal to their organization. When employees do not believe they work for an ethical company, only 9% are Truly Loyal.
