It is recommended that extra implants be available at the time of surgery, including sizes larger and smaller than those expected to be used. Proper handling of implants is mandatory. These prostheses should only be handled by personnel wearing clean sterile surgical gloves. Care should be taken to ensure that all articulating surfaces are not damaged during handling or implantation. Do not allow porous surfaces to come in contact with cloth or other fiber releasing materials. Prior to use, a visual inspection of each implant component for possible imperfections should be routinely performed. Damage or alterations to any implant component may produce stresses and/or cause defects which could become the focal point for implant failure. Care should be taken to ensure that all taper and threaded surfaces are clean and dry prior to assembly.
