Dutch term

Zij denken mest en mee

Dutch to English Other Agriculture Cows
It is just a title. But this phrase does not make sense for me. Normally there should be a preposition - denken over.
Or is it a phraseological unit? They think of manure and honey?
Please, help.

PRO (2): Johan Venter, Natalie

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Johan Venter Jun 29, 2011:
This is why context is so important Manure is clearly not important, but rather cleanliness and the health of the animals as a result!

A summary added here will do and will enable more people to contribute ideas!
Alexander Taguiltsev (asker) Jun 29, 2011:
Ok, thank you, but may I mail it to you both then through PROZ so to avoid publishing it here? I think, Johan is right. I translated such kind of text a few months ago and the general title was also something about solutions.
MoiraB Jun 29, 2011:
Agree with Johan There are many ways of translating meedenken so any answers would just be a stab in the dark. If it's a title, then give us the gist of what comes under the title - or ask the client for further info. Your own suggestion doesn't work at all IMO, since being manure experts is separate from the meedenken idea.
Johan Venter Jun 29, 2011:
Context We really need more context to be able to provide an answer that goes beyond an explanation. I'd be more inclined to use the term 'expert', rather than 'qualified', and I wouldn't say 'think together', but rather 'help find a solution'. Given the limited context I'm not going to try to put these ideas together to provide a full answer, however.
Alexander Taguiltsev (asker) Jun 29, 2011:
If I translate it as 'Qualified approach to think of manure together' Is it ok? Since it is some kind of marketing article I think I can afford some liberty in translation of titles.
Alexander Taguiltsev (asker) Jun 29, 2011:
Yes, I guess, I was in a hurry to mark this question as non-pro.
Alexander Taguiltsev (asker) Jun 29, 2011:
But, in any way, how it is going to sound in English, Johan?
Kari Koonin Jun 29, 2011:
Yes, they have created a kind of alliteration here: "denken mest" as in "think manure" and "denken mee" as in Johan's suggestion. Hard to translate, I agree.
Alexander Taguiltsev (asker) Jun 29, 2011:
Oh, I see mee- is a verb prefix then. :))) Thank you. So, the meaning is co-operation.
Johan Venter Jun 29, 2011:
Clever title It is not easy to translate this into English, but I think your target language is Russian, so an explanation would at any rate be more appropriate than a translation. From the limited context I'd say that they are trying to say that they are experts in the field of manure and that they are happy to help their clients find solutions (meedenken)

Thanks, Johan. I got fixated on manure experts before seeing the context and forgot to qualify my initial answer!
agree Kari Koonin : A good solution. Especially for "meedenken" which is always a toughie - I'll make a note of that for future reference myself.

Thanks, Kari. Glad to be of service! ;-)
