I am unclear as to the difference between 恖庻岞巌 and 恖曐岞巌. I asume one is "life insurance" and the other "life assurance", but which is which? Many thanks for your help.

One of them is wrong
人保公司 is equal to 人寿保险公司 ，which means life insurance company.
人寿公司 doesn't make sense. At most we may say it is an inappropriate or 不规范的abbrev for 人寿保险公司

Just some background info FYI
In the past, there was a 中国人民保险公司， shortened as 人保公司, literally translated as The People\'s Insurance Corporation of China.
It is half-governmental. The headquarters is in Beijing directly under the State Council. It has a network of offices/agencies/brokers throughout China.
This company does all kinds of insurance business. But I don\'t know if it still exists or not.

if your 人保公司 is really the abbre of 中国人民保险公司, you can rest assured that 人寿公司 is life insurance company.
Another possibility： 人保公司 is 人身保险公司，专做事故险种，也许与life insurance 不同。
