turnstile washer (inverting crate washer)
http://www.ssdairyequipments.com/rotary-can-washer.html

At the infeed end of the crate washer, the crates are inverted, and any loose debris falls into the waste bin. The purpose is to remove any glass fragments and prevent them from entering the crate washer.

Crate Inverter
Superfil offers a wide range of crate washers to suit different application & industries.

(Leider ohne weitere Beschreibung)
Where the manual dumping method is used, the crate-dump worker takes a crate from the pallet, turns, places the crate against a bar on the dump hopper, slowly inverts the crate over the hopper and completes the dump by tapping the crate on the hopper bar before putting it on the empty-crate conveyor.

Crate Washer is used for removing debris from inside the crate and cleaning it from all the surfaces.
The crate is brought in vertical position from an overhead conveyor and inverted in a dumper.
The crate is moved through a tunnel with spray jets from all sides of the crate.
The machine creates a space between each crate in order to clean the leading and lagging surfaces.
Cleaning is done in three stages, pre spray, detergent spray and final spray.
The crate travels upside down through the tunnel.
Adjustments are provided to handle the various sizes of crates.
http://www.dynatron.co.in/Crate_Washer.php
Crates are loaded by placing them base down one at a time for movement along the roof of the machine, at the end of which they are inverted as they turn and are taken up by the conveyor. This automatically feeds them in a controlled manner through the wash chamber with washed and rinsed crates then delivered back to the same operator.

Zum Schluss noch ein Link zu Klotzki:
The turnstile
The problem:
• Conventional crate washing machines work with conveyor chains
• Cleaning at the contact point between the chain and crate is not possible
Our solution:
Turnstile with integrated fan nozzle!
• Optimum space between crates due to turnstile

Discussion
The English turnstile can be either a "Drehkreuz" or a "Drehsperre":
http://www.drehkreuze24.com/drehsperren
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turnstile#/media/File:Turnstil...
This link here provides a good overview:
http://www.turnstilesecurity.com/products/
So while you're correct in saying that it's not a Drehkreuz (but a Drehsperre), it changes nothing with regard to the term Edith is looking for.
Likewise, "inverted" doesn't seem to fare much better, as even machines without a "wheel" may invert crates: http://www.coorscollege.org/htmlhelp/WebHelp/packaging/2_was...
Besides, I don't know what's wrong with Phil's video link; it's from Klotzki. The website you found refers to a "Spiralkastenwascher," which is a totally different machine.
Edit: Now I got the "Wenderad" part, video was a bit confusing, IMO. Would a simple "compact crate washer" be enough?
http://www.dict.cc/?s=turnstile
Im WHSmith/Collins English Dictionary heißt es:
turnstile / a mechanical barrier with metal arms that are turned to admit one Person at one time. Demnach wäre "Personenschleuse, Drehsperre, Drehschleuse" die besten Übersetzungen.
Here you got a nice illustration of a "Wenderadwascher" - same principle, just not that low-budget and a different name, I guess:
http://www.absolutcleanexperts.de/html/kastenwascher.html
The "Wenderad" is in the middle (turns the crates upside down - unlike the London Eye). I think Phil's right. This is more like a washing machine, whereas normal crate washers make you feel like you're at a car wash: http://www.crate-washer.com/crate-washer.html
http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/turnsti...
Such as this one here:
http://www.syspal.com/essential-products/boot-washers-hygien...
The Klotzki link ( http://www.fast-emotion.com/data/klotzki/web/ppt/start.swf ) says "Drehkreuz"(!), not "Wenderad." It's not even the same thing in German.
