Portuguese term

simplificado

Portuguese to English Science Environment & Ecology
...conforme o homem altera o ambiente para promover a agricultura ou a silvicultura ou mesmo a construção de cidades, o ambiente é simplificado e há redução na biodiversidade.

I'm not so comfortable using "simplified" or anything so literal in this case. What are your thoughts about it?

Thanks!

decrease in complexity

Just another suggestion and taking advantage of the 'redução':

"as man (...), there is a decrease in both biodiversity and environment complexity."

(is becoming) more homogenous

Basically a reference to mono-cultures etc. taking over. It's also a process, so you should use the present tense.
