Annual report of energy company
This is the title in an annual report for an energy company. It is being used to market the company so I need something that sounds appealing but still conveys the idea in the financial style. The section goes on to discuss a satisfactory past year of business.
I was thinking of using "Investments ahead of the production line", but would "production line" work in the context of energy companies? Or is that just a figurative use that would work across languages.

Investing upstream from production
A title needs to be snappier.
This energy company does E&P (exploration and production), and its capital spending is emphasising the E over the P.
It may also do R&M, but that's not even mentioned.:-)

: Yes, this does sound snappier. Whether it actually means anything is another matter!

What's upstream from production? Exploration -- and all that entails, such as bidding on leases, drilling exploratory wells, and so on. Hugely meaningful capital outlays required.
