Source text - English The setting on stage is of an area which serves both as a kitchen and as a living room. The atmosphere is Mediterranean. A fishing net is stretched over one wall, three anchors hang on another, there is a shelf with 7 earthenware wine jugs. A wood stove stands in the corner. A typical Dalmatian wine-vault: amphoras, fish troophies, rough wooden chairs, a bunk-bed. A wedding photograph stands out: Krea and Eve on their wedding day. As the curtain rises, the audience sees into this area, and to one side a stretched rope with two sheets hanging over it. Someone is behind the sheets, but you can't see who it is. Two feet are visible under the sheets, and a hand at the top pegging them to the rope. The pegging process is slow and lasts a while, and, by the feet, it looks as if a "housewife" is hanging out laundry which has just been washed. A well-known Dalmatian song issues from the radio. Knocking is heard at the door. No-one replies.
Translation - Italian La scenografia sul palco è costituita da uno spazio che fa sia da cucina che da salotto. Ambiente mediterraneo. Su una parete è distesa una rete da pesca, ad un’altra parete sono appese tre ancore, su una mensola ci sono sette brocche da vino in terracotta. C’è una stufa a legna in un angolo. Un tipico seminterrato dalmata: anfore, trofei di pesca, sedie rustiche, un letto a castello. Si distingue una foto nuziale: Krea ed Eve nel giorno del loro matrimonio. Quando si apre il sipario, il pubblico osserva questo spazio e da una parte c’è una fune stesa con due lenzuola appese. Dietro le lenzuola c’è qualcuno, ma è impossibile vedere chi è. Sotto le lenzuola si scorgono due piedi, e in cima una mano le appende con le mollette alla fune. L’atto di appendere le lenzuola è lento e dura un certo tempo e, a giudicare dai piedi, si ha l’impressione di una “casalinga” che stia stendendo il bucato appena lavato. La radio trasmette una nota canzone dalmata. Bussano alla porta. Nessuno risponde.
