Cliff Richard recorded a whole host of his songs in German in the 60s: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cliff_Richard_discography#German_language I always found it quite interesting how multilingual the pop music scene was back in the 50s/60s/70s, when many European stars adapted their songs for each market and often recorded versions of their hits not only in their native language but also in English, German, Italian, Spanish, French and other languages. Julio Iglesias recorded songs in more than a dozen languages. Charles Aznavour sung in eight languages. French singer Mireille Mathieu was well-known in Germany for her chansons sung in German; she has recorded songs in 11 languages. Greek singer Demis Roussos sang in Greek, English, German, French. Nana Mouskouri sang in at least ten languages, including Dutch, Hebrew, Welsh, Mandarin and Corsican. And the list goes on. ▲ Collapse | |
