Salve atutti! Grazie a tutti in anticipo. | | | ruthiep Italy Local time: 21:23 Italian to English + ... Getting it right | Jul 31, 2007 |
Dear Stefania, I've found myself in a similar situation and am very interested to know how people will answer! I live in Italy and I need to make an invoice to a UK customer and don't know, for tax purposes as well as for pleasing the customer, what is the best solution. I asked my commercialista the other day and he told me I must make out either the letter of 'prestazione occasionale' (however I can't expect an Englishman to come over to Italy to pay the 'ritenuta d'acconto',... I asked my commercialista the other day and he told me I must make out either the letter of 'prestazione occasionale' (however I can't expect an Englishman to come over to Italy to pay the 'ritenuta d'acconto', can I?) or I must open a P.IVA (I had one for a business I sold last year and wanted to wait until the new year before starting again) I have heard different solutions from different people- a few people have told me that it is possible to work for English clients for up to £5000 tax free-but how does this fit in with the other earnings in Euro that I'll have here and how do I pay tax if I go over the limit (wishful thinking!) For now I have sent an 'invoice' through paypal written in English but without specifying the tax- I really don't know if this is a 'correct' solution. I know my response is not going to help you much but at least you know you're not the only one. I do think though, that to be sure of getting it right, a P.IVA is the best solution. ▲ Collapse | | | Commercialisti | Jul 31, 2007 |

Just to clarify for Stefania's original question- She should therefore write the item of the invoice in English adding the note about IVA etc at the bottom in Italian? | | | Ricevuta...creata! | Aug 1, 2007 |
| | | ruthiep Italy Local time: 21:23 Italian to English + ... one more thing | Aug 1, 2007 |

Tra l'altro, non avere un commercialista dà un'idea molto poco professionale e di persone che si "arrangiano" e "vivacchiano" o lavorano per "hobby" I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that just because someone doesn't have a commercialista it means they are not professional. If someone is new to the translation work and is only just starting to earn money through it I can understand that they may not yet have a commercialista- also because, as you pointed out and from my personal experience, not all are good (even the expensive ones) and choosing the right one may take a bit of time! By the way- another posting of mine on this topic hasn't come through which is why the last posting said 'another couple of questions' This should also have read 'another question':-) | | |

| | | RICEVUTA IN INGLESE | Aug 2, 2007 |
Buon lavoro, Michele Treves | | | Elena Favero Italy Local time: 21:23 English to Italian + ...
